Age: 27

Occupation: Primary School Teacher

What does ‘doing your bit’ mean to you?

I would say that ‘doing my bit’ is helping where I’m needed, whether that’s on camps, at planning meetings or through social action programmes. I’ve helped with organising, running and supporting all the groups in Hertfordshire and I’ve also lead the activities teams on Summer and Winter Camps. Whether I’m able to put in a lot of time or a little time, it all makes a huge difference to the Jewish children and young people attending.

What have you gained from JLGB?

I’ve gained socially and I’ve gained in my career aspirations. I have gained great friends and great memories that I will value for life. I’ve gained a wealth of experience in Youth Work that has helped with my career and personal development. I know JLGB has really made an immense difference to me when I’ve applied for teaching positions after graduating.

Why should others volunteer?

Because, if you care how the next generation turns out, it’s a very real way of giving back to the community. You are helping to develop the future Jewish Youth.
